2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 4:00pm-2:30am

Friday hours may be possible on a required or voluntary basis

We are seeking a detailed and driven individual to join our 2nd shift Sanitation team at our pet food cannery in Mitchell, SD! We offer a competitive starting base wage of $19.52/Hr. PLUS a $1/Hr. Sanitation of Equipment and Production Floor        Quality Compliance


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Complete sanitation duties as directed by daily, weekly, and monthly schedules


Tear down and reassemble production equipment based on established SOPs, manually or with a screwdriver


Attain Hazardous Chemical Certification; use appropriate chemicals, hoses, and brushes to sanitize and disinfect production equipment and parts


Sweep, mop, squeegee, and sanitize production floors; safely operate ride on floor scrubber


Empty, foam, and sanitize oil containers and rendering totes


Wipe down production line fencing, overhead pipes, wire racks, and walls


Accurately document sanitation efforts and store paperwork for audit purposes


Participate in weekly and monthly deep-cleaning initiatives


Keep Quality Assurance Manager and Shift Supervisor aware of any concerns or issues that arise


Maintain positive relationships with others and assist in other areas, as requested


Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives


Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food safety


Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance


Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.


Qualifications


1-3 years’ sanitation experience in a manufacturing environment, desired; experience in food manufacturing, a plus


Ability to pass and maintain Hazardous Chemical Certification


Ability to perform tasks independently to ensure quality and food safety policies and procedures are met


Strong attention to detail and desire for facility cleanliness


Ability to write legibly and maintain accurate sanitation logs


Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, and company SOPs

 

Ability to perform safety sensitive position


Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes


Physical Requirements


Consistently push and/or pull heavy objects


Frequently lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level


Consistently bend at the knees and/or waist in potentially awkward positions


Frequently climb steps and/or ladders up to 10 feet; occasionally be elevated in scissors lifts up to 40 feet, if certified


Stand up to 100% of the workday


Ability to work in confined spaces


Ability to tolerate varying environmental conditions including wet slippery conditions or extreme hot
