Perform various activities and non-clinical clerical tasks/services in accordance with Edgewood’s policies, procedures and guidelines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting and Chart Orders/Documents Operations
• Maintain and prepare accurate report of resident admissions, discharges, transfers, and deaths for state review; Proper maintenance of resident’s information to include diagnosis, code status, physician information and other information that is necessary to determine the care and treatment of residents within the reporting requirements and as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Monitor all records to insure files are in compliance, complete, accurate, and comply with regulations and guidelines to include the monitoring of standing orders on each resident to initiate follow through per regulatory guidelines; Protect the security of medical records to ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and discretion is used when dealing with sensitive issues.
• Work with other departments to accurately and efficiently provide chart forms and sustain proper order of charts/documents; accurately file correspondence and uphold regulatory requirements to include eliminating files as applicable and within guidelines.
Resident Relations Support
• Assist residents with scheduling appointments/labs; Provide support in regards to Coumadin Clinic Lab orders in compliance with guidelines and as delegated by licensed personnel; Document information/data per policy and procedure.
• Accurately maintain appropriate documentation/correspondence to include lab/procedure, calendar, resident lists, appointment books, Resident Group sheets, Emergency Pendant system/assignments and clinic referrals for processing under the delegation of a Registered Nurse.
• Accurately complete order processing under the delegation of a Registered Nurse; Communicate urgent resident care needs to the Registered Nurse.
• Understand and use Universal Precautions, OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standards, and follow established infection control, hazardous communication protocol, and all safety rules.
• Incorporate direction from Clinical Services Director and company strategic goals to refine and improve efficiencies.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to business operations and resident privacy.
• Understand and support all aspects of resident’s rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse, through all interactions required to carry out your duties.
• Promptly report any evidence of resident abuse or violation of resident’s rights to the appropriate person.
• Support an atmosphere which promotes a homelike environment.
• Carries out delegated workplace safety activities and adheres to all company policies and practices regarding safety in the workplace.

• Responsible to be knowledgeable and maintain compliance with federal, state, local regulatory requirements in department.
Customer Service Responsibility
• Maintain a high level of customer service satisfaction.
• Participate in property activities as required to ensure resident quality care and customer service.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• A Health Unit Coordinator is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. No direct supervisory requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to read and understand medical terminology.
• Valid/Current state driver’s license required.
• Experience with activity or recreation programming strongly preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & DESIGNATIONS
• Must meet licensing/certification requirements as prescribed by city, state or federal regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (with or without reasonable accommodation)
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of regulations of Assisted Living and Resident Rights.
• Knowledge of Vulnerable Adult Reporting requirements.
• Must be highly adept at handling situations that require a high degree of flexibility/adaptability; must be open to change
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to use a variety of general office equipment including but not limited to a personal computer, fax machine, copy machine, laminator and cameras.
• Knowledge of and skill in using a personal computer and related software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Skill in basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, and decimals
• Skill of developing and maintaining positive relationships with external and internal customers
• Knowledge of and ability to apply commonly accepted rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation in written communication to develop management reports and summaries.
• Skill in preparing written materials such as correspondence, reports and proposals to meet purpose and audience.
• Skill of determining alternatives that would correct a situation to provide effective guest service.
• Skill of receiving a message, understanding the intended message and giving feedback to ensure guest expectations are met.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a group to make the work of the group successful and effective.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as equipment specifications, maintenance criteria, OSHA safety guidelines and procedure manuals, safety rules, and operation and maintenance instructions
• Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality activity and recreation programs
• Must have patience, tact, cheerfulness disposition and enthusiasm, as well as willingness to handle difficult residents/residents.
• Skill of developing and maintaining positive relationships with external and internal customers.
• Skill of determining alternatives that would correct a situation to provide effective customer service.
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents/residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Must possess ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and nonprofessional personnel.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents/residents.
