JOIN OUR TALENTED TEAM OF CRAFTSMEN!
Are you tired of production work and ready to take your metal fabrication and welding skills to the next level? Look no further! As a Blacksmith at HWWS, you’ll have the opportunity to create custom components for a wide range of vehicles—including Hitch Wagons, Stagecoaches, Cannons, and traditional wagon parts.
A FEW THINGS WE THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW…
Before we jump into the job duties, we want to be clear: we understand that some responsibilities will require training. This line of work is different from what most people are used to, and that’s exactly why we’re looking for someone with a unique skill set—someone we can help shape and train for this role.
You’ll work with various metals such as stainless steel, mild steel, tempered steel, tool steel, and brass. You’ll learn the art of forging and shaping components by eye—allowing you to be creative and take pride in the products you make.
Beyond just technical ability, we’re looking for someone with a sharp eye, a creative mind, and a strong work ethic—someone eager to explore and master techniques not commonly seen in today’s world.
If you're interested in expanding your skills and exploring new aspects of your craft, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
FAMILIARITY WITH TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES
The craftsmanship at HWWS is deeply rooted in the traditions of the Old West. Understanding the techniques, materials, and processes used by early blacksmiths helps our team maintain the authenticity and historical accuracy our customers value.
TRANSFERRING DETAILS FROM PHOTOS TO PRODUCTS
We take pride in creating pieces that closely resemble their historical counterparts. As a craftsman, your ability to accurately interpret and translate reference photos or documentation into physical components is key. This attention to detail ensures our customers receive truly remarkable reproductions.
WORKING WITH INCOMPLETE DRAWINGS & BLUEPRINTS
At times, you’ll need to work from incomplete plans or sketches. The ability to problem-solve and fill in missing details—taking a project from initial concept to finished piece—is highly valued in this role.
COLLABORATIVE DECISION-MAKING
Your ability to collaborate and contribute to shared decision-making is a big part of this role. We believe that by combining the diverse expertise of our team, we consistently deliver superior results to our clients.
